Our concept design demonstrates how to make a prominent landmark and a vibrant civic centre symbolizing the forward looking aspirations of the city of Macau while at the same time respecting its cultural legacy of beautiful historic architecture. Through architecture, we promote the new vision of the library as an institution that is well-integrated with the city, offering easy street-level access to an astounding wealth of information.
The library of the future will be a significant civic place to gather and access a variety of forms of information. We concentrated on the role of the library in the city, and provided both a new public outdoor civic plaza at the north side of the library and a 24-hour atrium space serving as a new city street.
